Vacation Itinerary

This summer, Jeff and I really wanted to explore our sense of adventure and experience the absolute opposite of Florida...... so off we go to the totally opposite corner of the country! ALASKA OR BUST!!!!!
To get the most out of our two-week trip, we are incorporating both land and sea travel. We start with a few days in the interior wilderness of Alaska, then board our ship and spend seven days traveling south, and finish off with a few final days in Vancouver, British Columbia.
No doubt we've got the whole gamut of adventures lined up: rafting, wildlife watching, dog mushing, helicoptering, railroading, panning for gold, flightseeing, and hopefully relaxing a bit too.
Hope this page gives you a chance to keep up with us as we travel..... I'm not sure that we'll even be able to keep up, but we're sure willing to try!

| DATE | LOCATION | PLANNED ACTIVITIES |

Most of the day will be spent flying!!! Spend the first night at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown in Anchorage. |
| Wed - May 28 | Denali, Alaska | Traveling 6 hours from Anchorage to Denali. Dinner at the Cabin Nite Dinner Theater. (video) Stay overnight at the Grande Denali Lodge just outside Denali National Park. |
| Thur - May 29 | Talkeetna, Alaska | Today we explore Denali beginning with a National Park Service bus tour through the park. (video) After spending time in Denali, we travel to the town of Talkeetna. The evening is ours to get into as much trouble as we can. After checking out the "Northern Exposure-ish" downtown area, we're thinking of taking a wildlife rafting trip. Stay overnight at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. |
| Fri - May 30 | Seward, Alaska | This morning we leave Talkeetna and head south towards Seward to meet our ship, Radiance of the Seas. After stopping along the way for lunch in Anchorage, we spend the afternoon in Seward until the ship sets sail at 9:00 PM. Remember.... it doesn't get dark in Alaska until after 10:00! |
| Sat - May 31 | At Sea | Cruising past the Hubbard Glacier. (pictures) |
| Sun - June 1 | Juneau, Alaska | Today we have arranged a Helicopter/Dog Sledding trip where we will fly out to a glacier to meet up with a dog camp and learn a bit about mushing. The rest of the day will be spent exploring Juneau. |
| Mon - June 2 | Skagway, Alaska | Skagway is best known for it's part in the Gold Rush of 1898. We've booked an 8-hour excursion through the ship for today and will be heading into the Yukon via the White Pass Scenic Railway, following the same trail that the gold miners did! |
| Tue - June 3 | Icy Strait, Alaska | Today we'll be in the small town of Icy Strait Point. We've booked yet another excursion through the ship. From what we've read, Icy Strait is not "built up" and offers a glimpse of the "real Alaska". |
| Wed - June 4 | Ketchikan, Alaska | Today brings us to Ketchikan. After reading a ton of great reviews, we've booked Michelle to take us "flightseeing" on a Glacier and Fiords Combo Tour. We hear that it's a small plane, but that there's plenty of room for Michelle's dog to join us! |
| Thur - June 5 | At Sea | Another day at sea cruising through the "Inside Passage". |
| Fri - June 6 | Vancouver, B.C. | Time to leave the ship behind and continue on land in Vancouver! We'll be staying at the Nelson House Bed & Breakfast in Downtown Vancouver. After settling into our room, it's time to explore the local Vancouver culture, first stop... Davie Street! Lunch at the Elbow Room is a must. We've heard that this is the place to get yelled at while enjoying your meal! A trip to Granville Island is in the works for this evening to do some shopping and grab dinner. |
| Sat - June 7 | Vancouver, B.C. | After enjoying the breakfast part of the Bed & Breakfast, it's time to head out and explore Vancouver. First on the list is the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetop Adventure. Next, it's off to Grouse Mountain to check out the views, wildlife and World Famous Lumberjack Show. |
| Sun - June 8 | Leave Vancouver at 7:45 PM travel through Seattle |
Today we'll check out Stanley Park and anything else that we may find along the way. Our flight isn't until the evening, so we have some time to play around. (video) |
